PHOENIX (Aug. 30, 2021) – StrataTech Education Group announced today the hiring of Mark Buck to serve as Vice President of Admissions. Buck will lead admissions strategies including enrollment, retention and marketing for all Tulsa Welding School campuses and The Refrigeration School, Inc.

Buck has extensive experience leading enrollment and retention in higher education. He joins StrataTech from Midwestern Career College where he served as senior director of marketing and admissions. Prior to Midwestern Career College, Buck spent more than 15 years as Vice President of Admissions and Enrollment for DeVry and Chamberlain Universities, where he helped Chamberlain become the largest nursing school in the country.

“Mark has proven to be an innovative and successful leader in enrollment and admissions,” said Mary Kelly, CEO of StrataTech Education Group. “We are happy to have him leading our admissions team at such a critical time in the skilled trades industry.”

Buck received his bachelor’s degree in Business & Communications from the University of Illinois as well as a master’s degree in Management & Leadership from National-Louis University. He has also been recognized by his peers for his enrollment strategy capabilities and leadership including the honor of Vice President of the Year from DeVry University.

“I am honored to join StrataTech Education Group and apply my extensive knowledge and expertise to advance the campus’ admissions strategies,” said Buck. “I’m excited to bring new strategies to Tulsa Welding School and The Refrigeration School, Inc. that will attract the most qualified and passionate students to our schools.”

Skilled trades have become more popular than ever as the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has forced people to consider new career paths. A recent StrataTech survey found that 62% of individuals who had to find or create an additional source of income over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic said the pandemic motivated them to consider enrolling in a trade school. Additionally, the $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill that was recently passed by the U.S. Senate will bring around 2 million jobs per year over the next decade, according to the White House.
