February 1, 2019 – The four schools operated by StrataTech Education Group—Tulsa Welding School (TWS), Tulsa Welding School & Technology Center, Tulsa Welding School Jacksonville and The Refrigeration School, Inc. (RSI)—have all been named as 2019 Military Friendly® Schools for their impactful programs supporting veteran and military students, and their dependents. This is TWS’ 7th year, TWSTC’s 2nd year, TWS Jacksonville’s 7th year and RSI’s 6th year receiving the honor.
TWS is the largest welding school in the country and prepares students across various skilled trades, including welding, pipefitting and electro-mechanical careers. RSI is the largest heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration (HVAC/R) school in the country and has been training students for sustainable HVAC careers for more than 50 years.
Institutions earning the Military Friendly ® School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey completed by the school. Final ratings were determined by combining the institution’s survey scores with the assessment of the institution’s ability to meet thresholds for student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, persistence (degree advancement or transfer) and loan default rates for all students and student veterans.

Methodology, criteria, and weightings were determined by VIQTORY with input from the Military Friendly ® Advisory Council of independent leaders in the higher education and military recruitment community. This year 766 schools earned this prestigious designation.
