WHAT:
High school seniors from across the country will descend on Jacksonville to compete in one of the nation’s largest welding competitions for a chance to win nearly $250,000 worth of prizes. Tulsa Welding School’s (TWS) High School Senior Welding Competition allows each participant the opportunity to showcase their skills and go home with scholarship money to TWS, including a full-tuition scholarship for the grand prize winner.
In addition to the high-powered competition, more than 300 participants and their families will be able to tour the campus, speak to admissions counselors and attend demonstrations by TWS faculty and welding industry experts. A number of partners including Lincoln Electric, Airgas, and Makita will also be on hand to speak with prospective students about opportunities within the industry.

WHY:
The American Welding Society estimates a shortage of 290,000 welders by 2020. As a viable and fulfilling career, TWS looks to empower the next generation of welders and ensure they have every educational opportunity to be successful in the field.

ABOUT:
Tulsa Welding School Jacksonville (Fla.), a branch campus of Tulsa Welding School (TWS), opened in 2001 and offers Professional Welder and Electro-Mechanical Technologies (HVAC-R) programs.
